Getting Dane into the jungle was easy. She was already there after all. Getting her to help explore the ruins, at night even, was something Anthea had difficulty with at the best of times. The place she'd wanted to go was a particularly large building that she was reasonably sure was an unfinished contest hall. The only problem was, it was also one of the most overgrown buildings in the whole unfinished city. Her own Pokemon weren't exactly adept at cutting. Burning her way through had been an option, but it was a risky proposition in the middle of a jungle at the best of times, and with how rainy recent days had been it wasn't likely to work at all now.
Fortunately, she'd also managed to spot a Pawniard in the area on her last trip, and that had been enough to convince exactly the person she needed to come along.
So now they were in the ruins, at around sunset, standing in front of a large but only mostly finished building with several trees growing out of holes in the roof and a mess of roots and undergrowth blocking the front door. And, most likely, a whole host of wild Pokemon or worse lurking in the building beyond.

Dane actually didn't mind giving the ruins a bit of exploration. Sometimes they even had something useful she could drag back to her fort Gym. But it was the reclusive Anthea's penchant for wanting to come at night that tended to be what she had an issue with. Her days were usually pretty busy even without any challengers for her Badge. After all, there was training to do for her Pokemon partners, training for herself, and then there were times something would break and she'd need to fix it, and the overgrowth to deal with, and... Well, Dane tended to be a busy woman. That said though, it seemed that Anthea had taken a particular interest in some new part of the ruins she'd recently taken note of. An unfinished contest hall or something like that? Dane had never been particularly interested in contests and frankly, these buildings tended to blend in together in a sense.
Well, at any rate, Anthea had mentioned seeing a Pawniard in the area and, well, why not? She was the Steel-type professional, after all. And a Pawniard made sense to add to both her Gym's roster and her own personal team of Pokemon as well.
Dane looked up at the sky, the sun fading off towards the horizon as day was turning into night. Yawning a bit, the Gym Leader looked over at Anthea, the blonde looking anxious as they arrived at the place she had found before. Drawing a silver pokeball out, she tossed it up in the area before it split open, a beam of light lashing out before the form of her Aggron, Chromium. The mighty Aggron let loose a roar before looking down at both her trainer and her companion.
"Alright Chromium," Dane pointed at the doors. "Bring those down." The Aggron nodded and turned looking at the doors before charging forward, bringing its full weight to bear on the doors, easily forcing them open as the doors fell with a heavy thud to the ground.

Anthea stood back to watch Dane and her Aggron work, her eyes wandering just a little bit where Dane was concerned. She didn't have long, though, as the Aggron smashed right through the roots, doors, and anything else in their way to gain access to the building. Anthea held up her lantern and approached the door, shining the light around the inside. She was looking into a large lobby area, with counters, seating, and doors leading into the main hall built into it, but nothing else yet in place. A large, vine-covered tree grew out of the middle of the floor, and she could see movement around it, rushing out of sight the moment the light invaded their darkened home. Two Pokemon did not run, though, and instead moved to attack. Anthea identified them as a Bronzor and a Honedge - both Pokemon that she wanted, but she'd only brought one empty PokeBall with her. This had been meant to be an exploration trip rather than a catching one on her part, after all. "I'll catch that one, then we'll match," she said after a moment of deciding, moving to face the Honedge. She sent out a newly acquired Pokemon, a Rowlet, to face it. "It's a ghost, despite all appearances," Anthea said. "Ko'ko, you know what to do." The Rowlet let out a surprisingly harsh hoot, spreading her wings and flapping them as though trying to stir up the dust coating the long-abandoned building. Rather than dust, though, an ominous cloud of spectral energy whipped up around Ko'ko, blowing at the sword-like Pokemon. It attempted to cut through the Ominous Wind, but was still battered by it, and wisps of the strange energy seemed to coat its blade for a moment before fading. The Honedge then returned to its sheath, preparing to unleash what would undoubtedly be a strong attack. Anthea was undeterred, though. After all, her Rowlet wasn't a ghost type...yet, and didn't have to worry about the usual rocket tag problems that came with most of her Pokemon fighting other ghosts. With a command to keep it up, Ko'ko stirred up and sent another Ominous Wind at the Honedge, biting deep into the sword Pokemon's defenses. But immediately after, she saw immediately what it was building up to, as it unsheathed itself in a devastating strike that sent Ko'ko rolling. Ko'ko recovered after nearly rolling right back out the door, but Anthea could tell that she couldn't take another hit like that one. "If you can't finish it off here, I'll have to recall you. You can't get hit like that again," Anthea warned. The attack seemed like a purely physical one, meaning that Dumah or Thanatos wouldn't be affected. Ko'ko seemed to take offense to this possibility though, and responded with a third Ominous Wind, which overwhelmed the Honedge and sent it clattering to the ground. Anthea took advantage of this to throw her spare PokeBall at the downed sword. Dane

"You want to match, huh? Well, I don't think I mind matching with you." Dane briefly teased Anthea as the pair of wild Pokemon continued to stand in the way of the pair. Well either way, that left the Bronzor for Dane to fight. And she knew it just as well as she knew any other Pokemon. Of course, she also knew that at this stage of its evolutionary line, it wasn't going to be much of a match for what she threw at it in the form of Chromium.
"Wrap this up fast for me, Chromium! Double-Edge!" The Aggrons' horns lowered and it charged forth once more, slamming into the smaller Bronzor with all the all the strength and difference of weight that such a move provided. Normally Bronzor may have been able to take such a powerful physical hit. But this was the difference between a boulder smashing into a pebble and regardless of how durable a Bronzor may have usually been, it couldn't stand the full force of Chromium slamming down upon it.
The smaller Steel-type flew backwards, back into some dark depths of the overgrown building. Regardless of it was still conscious or not, it certainly didn't look like it was coming back either.
Taking the time to then watch Anthea's fight, Dane watched as the blonde's Rowlet fought hard and fought well. Their training styles for their Pokemon may differ, but it didn't mean they were weaker.

"Of course not," Anthea said, rolling her eyes at Dane's teasing but smiling despite it. She'd taken her attention off her own fight only enough to see that Dane had taken out the Bronzor with overwhelming force. A shame, she'd have liked to catch that one too. But much as she'd have liked to ask Dane to catch it for her, she had tempted her with the prospect of catching a Pawniard.
And sure enough, once they wrapped up their respective battles, one of them appeared, along with an Elgyem that seemed to just be tagging along. The first fight must have attracted more Pokemon to the otherwise empty lobby.
"Ko'ko, you've got that one," Anthea said, directing her Rowlet towards the Elgyem. "Same as last time." This time, though, the Elgyem managed to get in the first attack, firing one off while Anthea was directing her Rowlet. It opened up with a beam attack, but rather than being a damaging one, it seemed to mess with her ability. At least, that was the impression she got when Ko'ko no longer seemed quite as comfortable with the distance between herself and her target.
"Fortunately, you still have ranged attacks. Ominous Wind!" Anthea called out, and her Rowlet responded in kind, whipping up a ghostly wind that bombarded the alien-like Pokemon. This time, though, a veil of it remained surrounding Ko'ko, and coalesced back into the Rowlet, strengthening her. The Elgyem attacked with a proper Psybeam this time, but Ko'ko was barely fazed by it. Without prompting, Ko'ko responded by rushing to close range and swiping with a massive Leaf Blade attack that sent the Elgyem flying off into the darkness beyond Anthea's lantern light.
"Well...I guess that's that," Anthea said, just as surprised by the turn of events as everyone else.
