A the name of this thread implies, below is a listing for all of the various roles one can play that are important to the setting, both in-universe and out. Anyone will be allowed to apply for these roles, but those who do will be held to a higher standard in terms of RPing than other characters. If we feel you aren't meeting these standards, we may ask you to resign the position. Naturally, we're hoping it won't come to that.
Additionally, one may only hold two positions on this list, and of those two, only one of them may be a Pokemon League position; i.e. Gym Leaders and Gym Leader Apprentices. Likewise, a single member may only hold one of the ranger positions, and one cannot have both the Professor and a Professor's Assistant. Lastly, in the interest of giving newer members a shot at a specific position, one must wait for three weeks after an app for an important position is accepted before they'll be allowed to make a new one.
Any any case, these positions are as listed below; more will be added later as deemed necessary, but for now, this will be it.
Professor
The professor of the Midori Region. Providing their bounty of wisdom to the new Pokemon Trainers of the region, his person is well versed in all things Pokemon and may or may not have competed their own journeys. Like many of the other Professors, they often have a specific field with which they study and specialize in; for example Professor Kukui of the Alola Region is an expert on Pokemon moves, whereas Professor Birch of the Hoenn region closely studies Pokemon habitats. While this isn't required, it's recommended that anyone wanting to make a professor come up with something similar.
Preferred Age: No younger than 30
Pokemon: The Professor is allowed a full team of six, with two allowed to be rare. Two may be fully-evolved, and one may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply. Bonus points if they share a theme with whatever their focus of study is.
Availability: Open
Professor's Assistant: Not even someone as influential as a Professor can do everything by themselves. As such, they often employ an assistant or two to help them with their studies, while also allowing them to do some studies of their own. They also keep the lab running whenever the Professor is busy elsewhere. No more than two assistants will be allowed at a time.
Preferred Age: No younger than 20
Pokemon: A Professor's Assistant is allowed four Pokemon, with one allowed to be rare. One may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply.
Availability; the position of the Professor must be filled before you can apply for one of their assistants Assistant 1: Open Assistant 2: Open
Senior Ranger: As the name implies, they are head person in charge of the whole organization, and the Ranger with the most authority. Mainly sticking to the main headquarters, they oversee all operations and do everything they can to ensure the safety of everyone out in the wild, by they human or Pokemon. As one might expect, they are also a highly skilled trainer, and definitely not someone to be trifled with; that said, it will only be in times of emergency that they will need to directly step in.
Preferred Age: No younger than 30
Pokemon: The Senior Ranger is allowed a full team of six Pokemon, with two allowed to be rare. Two may be fully-evolved, and one may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply.
Availability: Open
Ranger Captains: Whereas the Senior Ranger is in charge of keeping everything running smoothly, it's the Captains who directly work with recruits and give out the orders. Make no mistake, though; they answer only to the Senior Ranger, and are plenty capable of fending for themselves. There are a total of two Captains; one who handles things in the eastern part of Midori, and one who takes care of things in the west.
Preferred Age: No younger than 25
Pokemon: Ranger Captains are allowed a team of five Pokemon, with one allowed to be rare. One may be fully-evolved, and one may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply.
Availability East Captain: Open West Captain: Killroy
Ranger Lieutenants: While they have a ways to go before reaching the status that comes with being a Captain or even the Senior Ranger, Lieutenants are no slouches themselves. There are two assigned to each Captain, where they have the simple job of assisting their Captain in whatever way their superior sees fit. They will also take over the duty of handling recruits in the event that the Captain is busy with something else.
Preferred Age: No younger than 20
Pokemon: Ranger Lieutenants are allowed a team of four Pokemon, with one allowed to be rare. One may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply.
Availability; the position for a Captain must be filled before you can apply for the corresponding Lieutenant. East Lieutenant 1: Open East Lieutenant 2: Open
West Lieutenant 1: Open West Lieutenant 2: Open
Gym Leaders: What's a Pokemon League without it's gym leaders? These eight chosen trainers serve as both their city's guardian as well as trials for fledgling trainers to overcome. Not only are all of them highly skilled trainers, but they also specialize in a specific Type of Pokemon, often acting as experts in said Type. They also often act as representatives of the Pokemon League as a whole, especially during times of emergency. Either way, they're often held to a very high standard , so becoming a Gym Leader is definitely not something to be taken lightly.
Preferred Age: No younger than 18. It's worth noting that it is possible for an apprentice who is younger than 18 to be promoted to a Gym Leader if the one who served as their mentor leaves, but this may only be done ICly. No doing this with a fresh profile.
Pokemon: Gym Leaders are allowed a full team of six Pokemon, with two allowed to be rare. Two may be fully-evolved, and one may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply. Though it's not required that all of them be of/evolve into the type they specialize in, we do ask that a majority of them are; four out of six minimum. Regardless, these will be considered the Gym Leader's "personal" Pokemon, while they'll also be implied to own many more Pokemon to be used primarily in the Gym (more on that <link>).
Gym Leader Apprentices: Each Gym Leader has the ability to choose an apprentice, taking a young trainer under their wing and having them help out at their Gym. Their reasons for doing so doesn't matter; if the Gym Leader sees potential in them, that's all it takes. Additionally, they have the authority to hold official Gym Battles if the Leader is unavailable, and should their mentor leave (or otherwise lose) their position, their apprentice will be the first in line to take over.
Preferred Age: No younger than 15.
Pokemon: A Gym Leader Apprentice is allowed four Pokemon, with one allowed to be rare. One may be a middle-stage evolution (i.e., Charmeleon, Graveler, etc). As many as you want may be uncommon; beyond that, all other Starter rules apply. We also ask that no more than one be outside of the Type they specialize in. Like with the Gym Leaders, these Pokemon will be considered the apprentices "personal" Pokemon, while they will be also be implied to have access to many more during official Gym Battles. They can either belong to the apprentice themselves or it can be assumed that they belong to the Gym Leader and they've been given permission to "borrow" them. It doesn't really matter either way.
Availability for both Gym Leaders and Gym Leader apprentices; keep in mind that there actually needs to be a Gym Leader for a given location before an apprentice can be made.
Boronia City Gym Leader: Dahlia Althea - Poison Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Caspia City Gym Leader: Morgan Altair - Fairy Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Protea City Gym Leader: Open Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Phlox City Gym Leader: Open Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Aster City Gym Leader: Daniella Kuul - Steel Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Hydrangea City Gym Leader: Zane Grinpiers - Dark Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Kordylia City Gym Leader: Open Gym Leader Apprentice: Open
Watsonia City Gym Leader: Joulie Voltaire - Electric Gym Leader Apprentice: Open

If anyone would like to reserve a specific spot for themselves, they may do so. After all, nothing sucks more than to work on a character, only for the spot you were looking to take suddenly get sniped by someone else you didn't even know was going for that spot. As such, new members will be allowed to, if they see a position they're interested in, post here to reserve that position. In the case of a Gym Leader, it can be either a location or a specific Type. Or both.
Either way, you'll have a week to finish your profile and get it accepted; once that passes, the position will no longer be reserved and it will once again become a case of "first come, first served".
