After her trip to the Safari Zone had gone successful with the capture of a Shinx, there was yet another place quite suitable for training which was the mountains near Protea City. In direct contrast to the ruins she visited, the high mountainous area seemed to be a suitable place for a nice hike around the area. Perhaps there might be some Pokemon there that she might want in which she might have a need for a Flying type. With the mountain being so high up, it might be a good idea to explore the most out of the lower altitude areas. Her Shinx followed after her with his tail swishing back and forth, he was definitely excited to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

As always, the clear, sunny weather was just perfect for a stroll around the area. She considered a few options for a Flying type Pokemon, perhaps a Swablu or a Skarmory would be good options. Both Pokemon had been raised by Winona, the graceful Flying type gym leader that many people admired, including her. Simba wouldn't stray far from her as he was excited about exploring the great mountainous area himself and considering that it was her first trip to the mountain, she wouldn't get lost as long as the map was there to guide her.

He couldn’t help but sigh being here again, but his consciousness wouldn’t let him ignore Mt. Soliadago after his encounter with the mysterious trainer his last trek here. Although, in contrast to the oppressing tense atmosphere that once plagued the locale it was now as every area was. Pokémon freely roamed the mountain and trainers safetly climbed or walked the path with little intrusion from the mountain’s inhabitants. Every now and then the sounds of battle would rumble through but for now it seemed as though everything was as it should be. “They must have left here.” He could only think that was the solution. It seemed too much of a coincidence that a hostile trainer and their Pokémon’s lack of presence would bring the mountain back to its natural state. [break][break] He was happy with that and could only laugh at his burst of courage he gained when thrown directly into a conflict. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t wish to bring the culprit with him when he informed the rangers and the city police of his encounter with the assailant. Nevertheless, it all seemed to be behind him now and he was content with that. For once he didn’t have anything really planned as far as training goes, but he couldn’t deny that Anu’s regiment was showing clear progress. The Rockruff was beginning to show jagged, stone claws and callous pads on her growing paws. For a while she was showing clear discomfort with her growth, stumbling every now and then but now she seems to be getting used to her growing body. [break][break] As they headed down the mountain path steps could be heard coming towards them. Anu’s ears perked up and she began sniffing the open air, he’s noticed that her nose was getting increasingly more sensitive to people and other Pokemon, as the person came into view his Rockruff was more focused on one of the strangers in particular; the Shinx. Anu briskly trotted forward, circling the young lady and her Shinx, sniffing the ground around them before focusing her attention on the Shinx. "Anu!" he called chasing after her, Anu had a trend of acting first and he was the only one to keep her in check in case she started any trouble. [break][break] The other trainer seemed no older than he, possibly younger even and roughly half a foot smaller. He tried his best not to seem like he was looking down on the other trainer and cleared his throat. “S-sorry about her. She’s um sensitive to new smells.” He looked down at his Rockruff, “Come now Anu, we have to be polite around others.” He directed. The Rockruff dropped her ears huffed at the command and walked back towards her trainer. He couldn’t stop himself from scratching the back of his head, his nervous twitch providing some comfort in front of the other trainer. [break][break] “O-oh, my apologies my name is Alex W-“ He cut himself off from saying his last name. “Alex, my name is Alex. Pleasure meeting you. Anu here didn’t cause any harm did she? She’s a protective girl but never outwardly hostile.” Genuine worry was plastered on his face, he was by no means an expert on eveolution but he’s noticed Set’s demeanor change after his transformation. He’d hate for a hostile personality to replace Anu’s during her beginning phases.

A canine Pokemon started circling around the duo, and sniffed the ground around them. Simba's fur bristled as he noticed the Rockruff getting too close though the other trainer had arrived at the scene for an explanation about his Rockruff's behavior. The Shinx, while still cautious, tilted his head over at the Rockruff in curiosity. "No worries at all. I know my pet Mightyena back home was also a bit sensitive to new smells as well." She did have to wonder if her pet was doing okay at home, he was probably the only Pokemon in her childhood that really cared about her well-being.

As the young man introduced himself, she would give out her own in return. "A pleasure to meet you, Alex. My name is Amaryllis or if you prefer, Amy. This is Simba, my Shinx." At the moment, the blue feline Pokemon gave out a small meow towards the Rockruff which was not hostile at all. Given the fact that she did have very little interaction with other people, and was holed up in the company building for most of her childhood, this was a great opportunity to make friends on her own.

Relief washed over his expression, replacing the worried grimace with a soft smile. It was a good thing the trainer had experience with Canine Pokémon. With how easily triggered the two trainers “Good ever since she started growing, she’s become a lot more independent. Running off to do as she pleases, I know she’s more than capable of taking care of herself but well…” he laughed, thinking about it he got flashes of memory when his parents used to say similar things all the time. “I just can’t help myself but worry when she’s out of sight.” The Rockruff huffed, turning her head away “And she’s got quite the attitude."  [break][break] “Amy.” He repeated with a nod, committing the name to memory. “Well Amy, seeing as we both decided to come here on this lovely day how about we explore the area together. I’ve only been on Mt. Solidago once before and due to circumstances, I wasn’t able to explore properly my last time here.” He cleared his throat, clearly not used to asking questions along this line. Though he had to admit, the opportunity to travel with another did give him excitement. “I-If you don’t mind, would you like to chat and explore together?” he finished. [break][break] Anu watched the Shinx meow with a side glance and with a few barks spoke “And just who are you to talk to me?” She looked the newcomer up and down before huffing, “Certainly could not be myself. You see, I happen to lead my master’s troop which happen to include others far larger than myself.” Her chest clearly puffed out from repeating Alex’s compliments a while before. “So, you stay by your friend’s side and keep several paces back while Master and I lead the charge. Don’t worry, we’re used to watching over children.” [break][break] “Wow, I haven’t seen Anu this talkative before, perhaps her and Simba are becoming fast friends?” He smiled at the thought of his Rockruff making friends with another Pokémon, even amongst his party she’s always been quite the loner.

She was asked whether she would like to explore the area with him as Simba seemed to be interested in Anu's leadership skills. "I would be delighted to explore and chat with you." She replied to him with a smile. As the Rockruff would proudly explain that she was the leader of her master's troop, the Shinx's eyes seemed to light up as he meowed in response. "Ah, s-sorry, didn't realize you were a leader of a troop, but could you teach me how to be an effective leader?" Even if Anu acted arrogant about it, he did not mind having the canine Pokemon as a teacher.

As Alex commented about his Rockruff being a bit more talkative than he was used to, she chimed in. "I'm sure they are becoming fast friends already. Even Simba himself took a liking to your Rockruff's personality." It was rather refreshing to see Simba making a new friend out of Anu though Anu probably didn't seem to think otherwise. Alex did mention that he had been to this place twice before with the first attempt not being explored properly. With her first time exploring this area, she was sure to encounter a lot more Pokemon that were fairly interesting to catch at her own leisure.

"Well, let's just hope that my first time exploring the mountains doesn't go to waste the first time. I did hear there were very interesting Pokemon to catch there." Perhaps with a stroke of luck, she might encounter a highly sought after Pokemon in the vicinity, but there was no telling which Pokemon would stumble across them.

It was a new experience for sure, small talk that is. It was always something he was wary of, if not out right avoided back home in Undella. His parents were always wary of him leaking some type of sensitive information or divulging interest in other heirs. Always dressed up in formal wear to keep up only the best of appearance no matter how false a representation it was. This however? Loose clothing that allows his body to breathe, the mountain's winds caressing his face, and an acquaintance now travel companion exchanging meaningless words as they hiked Solidago's trail. He wouldn't trade this for Undella's  monotony for any amount of capital. For once he actually felt he was truly suited for something, and it was something he chose. Needless to say Alex was a lot more expressive as he traveled with Amaryllis, his stuttering becoming less and less of an occurrence as he got used to Amy's presence. [break][break] "We simply must try this quaint little cafe in-" squawks and barks rang in Alex's ears, some clear sounds of pain. He hesitated for a moment, his heart told him that he has to help. No, that it was his duty to help. He couldn't just leave anyone, human or Pokemon in peril if he had the ability to do so. Amy though, he couldn't just run headlong into a potentially dangerous situation as he's proven time and time again to be apt at doing so. His fist clenched at the sounds as they rang out once more, his voice taking on a more serious tone. "I'm sorry Amy, but from the sound of things it appears that someone is in trouble. I... I don't want to force you to help me, that would just be rude of me." Not that he had any reason to doubt Amy's skill as another trainer. After all she was able to keep her Shinx in sight for a longer time than he's been able to keep Set or Anu in sight. He cleared his throat, "However if you would like to help, I will not turn down the assistance. From the sounds of things it just might be too large a task for me to handle on my own." The admission of his own weakness made him further tighten his grip. [break][break] Once more the shrill high pitch voice echoed in the distance, Alex looked down at Anu who only nodded in reply. "Well then, we'll be off." he told,  rushing forward. The distance was not too great, as soon as they approached an incline that ended with a flat, wide stretch of the path where multiple holes in the mountains wall that Pokemon no doubt made their homes in. The noise made it easy to see just exactly what the problem was; a flock of Swablu as well as three Pancham were harassing several other Pokemon. "Anu! scare them off!" Alex ordered. The canine pokemon bounded forward growling and with a deep breath howled into the air. A few of the Swablu flew off from the Rockruff's warning as well as two of the Pancham. However one of each decided to stay, their eyes focused on the new aggressor. "We'll only be to take one... Anu, keep your eyes on the Swablu. Make sure it doesn't try to attack the other Pokemon while we try to take care of this Pancham." He pulled a pokeball from his belt as he gave the order to his Rockruff. "Eos! Your turn!" he shouted tossing the pokeball into the air. [break][break] The blue helmed Ralts left her chambers on alert, becoming fully aware of her opponent Pancham. "Alright Eos, attack with Psychic!" The feeling Pokemon's body began to glow with purple energy before being focused to the tips of its palms. With a slight push the energy shot forward, colliding with the Pancham and pushing it off of it's feet.  [break][break] The Pancham staggered to its feet, the super-effective attack doing clear damage to it. Claws elongated from the Pancham's paws as it brushed dirt off of its face. With a leap it was on Eos and Slashed down on the small Ralts. The youngling shrieked when it received the attack causing Anu to rush onto the battlefield with fangs and claws bared. Without a command from her trainer the Rockruff slashed right back at the wild Pancham with Crush Claw.  [break][break] With Anu's interruption the battle was over, the Rockruff ran over to the Ralts and licked it's head to get it stirring once more. The Swablu seemed to be out of sight, giving Alex the opportunity to rush onto the scene and inspect the damaged Ralts. "It's alright, she'll be okay. She's still small and inexperienced, it's my fault for putting her in a situation like that." he told the Rockruff as he took Eos' ball to let the Pokemon rest until it came time for her medical attention. It was a lesson learned and something he'd have to note later. To think he could throw his Ralts into battle like that without even having an inkling of her strengths and strategy in battle. he sighed, "Alright now for the- huh?"

[attr="class","woo3"] Alex had left her side to help the harrased wild Pokemon from a flock of Swablu and a group of Pancham, but not before admitting that he wouldn't mind her assistance on the matter. "Looks like we'll have to handle the Swablu, Simba. It should not be too hard for you." Simba nodded in agreement as he got in between one of the Swablu and his trainer. What kind of wild Swablu would act so aggressive towards the other wild Pokemon here? Perhaps they felt the need to attack these poor Pokemon just because they stumbled upon their turf though it seemed to be the same for the group of Pancham.[Break][break] "Simba, distract that Swablu away from the other wild Pokemon with Thunder Fang!" Upon Amy's command, the feline Pokemon leaped into the air and pounced upon the blue bird Pokemon with his fangs sinking onto its head in which electricity sparked from it. The wild Swablu squawked as it collided onto the ground, courtesy of Simba pinning it down. Heavily njured as it was, the wild Swablu shrieked in a loud squawk as pink sound waves would damage her Shinx even if he did shut his eyes to weather the blow. It was Simba's very first experience in battle, and he was already getting the hang of it.[Break][break] The battle would be over soon as she encouraged Simba to finish it. "Finish it off with Discharge!" Simba began releasing blue bolts of electricity from his own body which struck the avian attacker, and in a moment, the wild Swablu collapsed onto the ground in an unconscious heap. With that, she tossed an empty Pokeball at the fainted Swablu, elated that she finally had her own Swablu to train and evolve to an Altaria.[break][break]

He'd almost forgotten how enjoyable it was to watch another trainer battle, how Amy handled her Pokemon. While he still kept some focus on her battle, he couldn't help himself but note down how Shinx act in battle. "To think their fur is a conductive..." he muttered under a low voice. Every now and again he'd make a "hm" or "aha" as some other clue became known to him while he filled the pages of his notebook. "This will make excellent material to show the Professor." his chest puffed out slightly at the thought. He put a lot of pride into how detailed his work was, often filling several pages on a single Pokemon encounter. Sure, the PokeDex held a plethora of information from thousands of encounters with the currently known Pokemon but Alex had only chosen to rely on the machine for only battle necessary information. [break][break] When Amy's battle ended and her pokeball indicated a successful capture Alex walked towards her with a clap and smile. "Well done, I'm certain you'll raise it well." Sure, the thought crossed his mind to capture the Pancham as well but he only had so many empty pokeballs to spare and the Great Balls he purchased in the city mart he decided were going to be for especially powerful Pokemon that might break out of the lesser capsules. Even still, he wasn't going to simply give up the opportunity to catch a Pokemon today. "I might catch another member today as well, just have to be a bit more prudent with my inventory. There's also the gyms to tackle... hmm... I wonder what else Solidago houses." he closed his eyes and stroked his chin, once again in deep thought. [break][break] Unbeknownst to the two the injured Pancham slowly stood to it's feet. The sound of the shuffling turned Anu to it who could only huff at the defeated Pokemon. The wild opponent clearly had its pride hurt by the dismissal and with a deep breath let out a loud shout before stumbling back on the mountain wall. "Huh?" That was curious. Why would it suddenly shout out like that? It was defeated, as was its now captured partner. Then it hit him, it wasn't a desperate cry it was "A call for help! Amy, be on guard it seems our opponent has a few more friends!" he warned. [break][break] Just as Alex suspected a Minior flew in with a Rockruff right behind it. "Sadly, I'll be counting on your assistance once more Amy. I'll handle the Minior, you handle the Rockruff." he flinched realizing what he just said. "Ah, i-if you could, please handle the Rockruff." With that correction he hurried to face the Minior. The comet Pokemon had an eerie glow about it that Alex couldn't help but be cautious of. "Either way it has to be a flying type. Anu! We're seizing the initiative! Rock Slide!" he ordered. The rocks on the collar of the canine Pokemon shot out and surrounded her body, when the attack was fully prepared she charged at her opponent and with a leap tackled into her opponent. "Now, while it's staggered Rock Slide once more!" he repeated, the Rockruff once again repeated the attack and with another charge she knocked the Minior's armor off revelaing it's red core. The Pokemon fell to the ground with a low groan. He could only assume the Pokemon didn't have the energy to get up as it stayed on the ground for a long while. "They are trying to test our endurance then? Very well, bring on the rest of your gang." The Rockruff let out a victorious howl, clearly feeling her trainer's confidence.

[attr="class","woo3"] With the capture succeeding, the captured Swablu would be automatically sent to the PC Storage just as Alex had finished his own battle with the wild Pancham. "Thank you, Alex. I am sure Swablu will be a valuable team member." Their own victory would not last as two more Pokemon had arrived to aid their friend, likely reinforcements that the Pancham called upon. Alex stated that he would handle the Minor while she would be free to handle the wild Rockruff. Simba's fur bristled as the wild canine Pokemon approached the duo though Alex had left her side again to deal with the other aggressive wild Pokemon. [break][break] "Simba, use Discharge!" Simba's conductive fur unleashed blue electrical bolts as it was headed towards the Rockruff, no doubt that it had been successfully hit by the attack. The canine Pokemon gave out a pained yelp as cracks of electricity still remained though its fierce stare never wavered. As Rockruff would struggle to move, it managed to bite down on the blue feline which Simba gave out a pained meow. "Retaliate back with Crunch!" As the Shinx pinned down the Rockruff, he would also bite down near the scruff of its neck with his tiny fangs, causing the dog Pokemon to whine in pain.[break][break] It had the misfortune of not being able to move, so her Shinx had an opportunity to finish it before it could attack back. "Let's finish it with Discharge!" A blue bolt of electricity was enough to send the Rockruff onto the ground in an electrocuted mess. Simba returned to her side with a proud look on his face, probably happy that he had gotten some more battle experience while she was here. Afterwards, she sprayed her Shinx with a Potion in order to heal whatever wounds he sustained.

Alex was quickly reminded that overconfidence was a slow and insidious killer. From the depths of the caverns bellowed a couple of roars that even got his proud Rockruff to shrink back several paces towards him. The gang of now defeated Pokemon didn't call for anyone else, "We've definitely disturbed something." Alex warned clutching Set's poke ball as he pulled it from his belt and with a toss he released the Gabite from his chambers. The playful dragon snickered at the sight of Anu so close to his trainer earning several loud barks from the Rockruff, "Enough Set, it seems our opponents have shown themselves." From the cave entrance poked out two heads that scanned the area. A clearly irritated expression on their face. One of them eyed Set fiercely, stepping further into view revealing his large frame. "Dr-Drampa?" They were inhabitants of Mt. Solidago? He heard the Pokemon were normally compassionate by nature but once angered it was almost unheard of to calm them down without wearing them out. "Alright Amy, I'll take one and you'll handle the other as we've continued to do today. Hopefully this is our last battle here, if you need any help with them I'm here." he told. The other trainer had proven herself more than capable but while he was confident in his ability to take down the angered dragon he could not expect the same from her. [break][break] "Alright Set, Dragon Claw!" The dagger like appendages on his arms separated and grew in length until they were long claws surrounded by bluish-purple energy. Running towards his opponent, Set brought his claws up and with one fast motion swung the two down on his opponents body, scoring an incredibly damaging attack.  [break][break] The Drampa's cry of pain turned into an ear ringing scream of Hyper Voice. Set, being the closest to him was pushed off his feet from the sheer vibration of it's attack and sent back towards Alex. "Set!" he landed on the ground with a thud, trying to shake off the ringing in his head. "It's alright Set, you've done enough." he tried his best consoling the pokemon. Once again he reached for the dragon's pokeball this time only to return him, not willing to make the same mistake he made with Eos. "Im going to have to depend on you once more Anu." The Rockruff nodded with a small bark in reply before heading onto the battlefield. The Drampa's body shook once more before bellowing out another wave of sound with Hyper Voice. However, unlike Set Anu had an innate resistance to the attack thanks to her rock typing. Dampening the damage she would have otherwise received. [break][break] When the puppy Pokemon shook off the effects of the attack Alex gave his command. "Alright Anu, Set's attack should have done enough damage for us to finish this with Rock Slide!" Anu ligned the rocks from her collar alongside her, growing them in size before sending the boulders one at a time at her opponent. The Drampa shot waves of sound at the boulders, shattering one then two before taking a breath to recharge. Without giving him that moment, Anu bombarded him with the other several before finishing the attack with a full on charge. [break][break] The Drampa collapsed from the attack, once again signalling Alex's victory. He would definitely have to thank Set later, the now evolved dragon's strength was quite impressive and laid the groundwork for their victory against the Drampa. Without even debating it Alex pulled out an empty poke ball and tossed it at the downed elder dragon, after a sign of successful capture he would focus his attention on the progress of Amy's battle. If only to make sure she could in fact handle the powerful dragons they had as opponents.

[attr="class","woo3"] The cave that they had stumbled upon was really big trouble than the previous encounter sending in more of their friends as the bellowing roars inside belonged to something much more terrifying. Alex urged her to be careful as not one, but two large dragon-like Pokemon emerged from their home. Normally, people did not see it very often as they were not wholly aggressive to humans, but this was different. They were both aggressive themselves, a drastic change from their usual docile behavior. Maybe these two Drampa had been having a bad day, but already Alex had gone to work with handling the male Drampa.[break][break] Which left the female Drampa to take care of for herself. Simba needed assistance as he couldn't deal with it alone, so an idea crossed the female trainer's mind. "Help Simba out, Percival!" The button was pressed as the shiny Aron materialized out of his Pokeball with the sparkles flying out in all directions. Percival awaited the order from his trainer as his red eyes stared at the Drampa. "Percival, start with Iron Head! Simba, go assist him with Crunch!" The shiny Aron charged forward with his steel helmet-like head poised to ram his much larger opponent. Scoring a direct hit on the Drampa's torso, the dragon roared in apparent pain as it was skidding on the ground, but it was not expecting Simba to also help his partner.[break][break] The little feline Pokemon bared his tiny fangs as he leapt into the air and sunk his fangs onto the Drampa's head. It bellowed as it tried to shake the small feline Pokemon off of its head with success. As Simba would land on his feet, the dragon flinched which gave them a second chance to attempt finishing it off. "Try to finish the Drampa off with Head Smash, Percival!" Her shiny Aron charged forward as a blue aura surrounded the little steel type Pokemon with his head forward. It was a miracle that Percival's Head Smash struck true as the wild Drampa was sent flying and crashing onto the ground just before the caves entrance. [break][break] It was finally over as the dragon-type Pokemon succumbed to its injuries, and fell into unconscious. Their last victory over a larger dragon type Pokemon might inspire the two to work closely together from now on.
