vince would grab the pokeball from the ground once it had stopped shaking, realizing he had just caught himself a new member of his team. he couldn't help the smirk on his face at the thought of him finally making some effort towards his goal of battling around the region and this was clearly his first step.
while ignis would wearily climb up his shoulders and curl into the hood of the jacket vince was wearing the sleepy hippopotas was the first one to notice the black dog-like pokemon creeping towards them from around the corner. she yawned wearily, hoping another attack was imminent. Of course those hopes were dashed quickly by the way the zorua dashed from around the corner and began to bark and yap noisily at vince, standing in an offensive position which made his intent at a battle clear.
emboldened by his previous encounter vince would look down at terra and smile.
"you know this is all you baby girl," he said encouragingly while she slowly lifted herself from the cool ground with a heavy sigh.
ignis poked his head out from the curled position he was in and peered around his trainer's neck, curious about seeing his partner in action. while the two weren't necessarily close the chimchar had always regarded terra as an older sister figure. after all, they had spent quite a few years together.
terra would slowly make her way to facing the zorua, waiting for her trainer's command. suddenly the zorua yipped and transformered into the image of the klefki he had just caught, jingling it's keys in an almost perfect replica of claves.
"ignore its' tricks terra, use yawn!" vince commanded, a personal favorite move of his pokemon. terra was more than happy to, locking eye contact with the zorua/klefki and letting out a large and loud yawn.
her opponent would waste no time with an attack, launching forward with a night daze that knocked terra near off her feet. the sturdy pokemon would catch her balance and await her next move.
"let's use a bite attack while it's close!" vince called.
before zorua could back away she managed to bite on of the illusioned keys of klefki, causing the pokemon to shudder at the attack. as zorua would rear back to make space between himself and terra he would yawn once and suddenly fall asleep, the body of klefki crumbling to the streets.
"use tackle, don't let him get back up!" vince said as terra unleashed her attack, knocking back the sleeping pokemon. when the zorua didn't seem to stir vince called for the tackle again, which terra obliged.
and again their opponent didn't stir and vince frowned. despite the fire in his heart to continue the battle it didn't seem right to beat the poor pokemon to death while it slept. judging by how many attacks it had taken so far he couldn't imagine it being far off from knocked out... unless he had already done it?
"alright terra that's enough, you've won this one. good job baby girl." he called to his pokemon who would trot towards him and accept head pats for her job well done.
"how about we head home and i order from that place down the street? you know the one with the delicious poffins? i think you all deserve a treat after such a wonderful effort today."
OOC: Rolled for number of turns zorua stayed asleep with yawn.
